What does “SDS” mean in bouldering?

I was recently watching a bouldering video and saw the letters SDS in parenthesis after the name of the problem. It took me a few seconds to realize what those letters stood for.

Here’s the video:

SDS stands for “sit down start,” also often referred to simply as a sit start. Note how in the video the climber starts the problem sitting down on the crash pad. That’s the sit down start or sit start. “Sit start” or “sit down start” is opposed to a stand up start; that is, the climber is standing normally when he or she starts to climb.
