The 10 Commandments of Training for Rock Climbing

I like to read old climbing books. Performance Rock Climbing by Dale Goddard and Udo Neumann lists “The Ten Commandments of Physical Training,” and I thought they were great and worth sharing here:

  1. Warm up and cool down
  2. Vary your climbing and training
  3. Personalize your training
  4. Train specifically
  5. Increase your volume appropriately
  6. Don’t expect shortcuts
  7. Take time off
  8. Develop a recovery instinct
  9. Stay motivated
  10. Stay healthy

A good question to ask yourself is how many of these you do on a regular basis.
