OSO Climbing Gyms
Oso Climbing Gym might be the coolest gym I’ve encountered. It is one of the newer climbing gyms in the area, having opened in 2020. The gym has lots of rad bouldering features and update their routes frequently. A heads up for all the sport climbers out there, the gym doesn’t feature a lead or top rope area so if that’s your jam, it may not be the right space for you.
Sure the climbing has what you need, but that’s not what make this gym great. They offer range of other workout spaces to help you cross train or just take a day off from climbing. They also offer exercise classes like yoga and spin, as well as climbing courses for those looking to sharpen their skills
Their membership perks are unlike any other gym out there. Members that get laid off from a job can continue going free of charge until they land on their feet. They also offer sliding scale pricing to make sure individuals don’t get priced out. With co-working spaces, a bar, a sauna, and member only hours, none of the other gym Dallas climbing gyms will give you as much value.

Summit Climbing Gym
If you’ve done any research on Dallas climbing gyms, chance are you’ve stumbled across Summit. They offer a range of climbing options, including bouldering, top-rope climbing, and lead climbing. With 5 locations in the Dallas area including a bouldering only gym in Fort Worth, Summit Climbing Gym is one of the most popular indoor climbing facilities around. No matter what part of the area you live in, chances are you are close to a Summit gym.
Summit’s main Dallas location has all types of climbing. With 3,000 square feet of 27-foot-tall top-rope and lead climbing walls, and approximately 5,000 square feet of bouldering, you’ll have plenty of routes to test your skills on. Their membership structure also gives you access to their other gym locations, so you can fit in a sesh while you’re out on the road. Their structure is similar to the Movement gyms we covered in our Portland Gym roundup.
The gym is also a great community center for all things climbing. From competitions and classes to partner meet-ups and events, this is a great place to meet fellow climbers and potentially find a steady belay partner.

Canyons Climbing Gym
Located in Frisco, Canyons Climbing Gym is another top-rated indoor climbing facility in the Dallas area. They offer a variety of climbing terrain, including overhanging walls, crack climbs, and slab climbs. With top-rope, lead, and bouldering, they have something for every type of climber.
The feel of Canyons is a lot more local. While gyms like Summit that have multiple locations come with some cool benefits, they can often feel a bit more corporate. If you’re someone that like a small gym feel, this spot is for you.

Dyno-Rock Indoor Climbing Center
Located in Arlington, Dyno-Rock Indoor Climbing Center offers a wide range of climbing options, including top-rope climbing, bouldering, and lead climbing. They have a variety of terrain options, from steep overhangs to slab climbs.
The vibe of this gym is definitely old school as well. The facility is a bit smaller, the grades are stiffer, and the route setting mimics what you will find outdoors more than the chain gyms. If this sounds up your alley, I’d recommend popping in! The staff are great (just check their Google reviews) and the climbing will make you better… though it might humble you first.
In addition, this gym comes with a bunch of cool perks like member only hours and $7 day passes on Mondays.
